Legal Disclosures

Important limits and disclosures about Dead Ringer's educational resources, case-check outputs, evidence tools, and attorney introductions.

Effective July 21, 2026 · Last updated July 21, 2026

Dead Ringer is not a law firm

Dead Ringer is a technology and intake platform. It does not give legal advice, represent consumers, determine whether a law was violated, or guarantee that a lawyer will accept a matter. Using the Services does not create an attorney-client relationship.

Preliminary screening only

Case scores, tiers, statutory-value ranges, campaign matches, caller-identity indicators, and evidence labels are preliminary automated screening outputs based on the information available. They are not legal opinions, settlement estimates, appraisals, or promises. A reviewing attorney may reach a different conclusion after considering consent, exemptions, jurisdiction, caller identity, evidence, defenses, deadlines, and current law.

No guaranteed compensation or result

Statutory amounts displayed by Dead Ringer describe possible remedies that may be available under certain laws when all required elements are proven. They are not guaranteed payments. Courts have discretion in some circumstances, claims may not be viable, and actual recoveries may be lower, higher, or zero. Past outcomes do not guarantee a similar result.

Deadlines and urgent matters

Legal deadlines can expire even while information is stored or reviewed. Dead Ringer does not monitor statutes of limitation, filing dates, court notices, or emergencies for you. If you believe a deadline may apply, contact a licensed attorney promptly. Do not use the Services for emergencies.

Attorney matching

An introduction is not a recommendation, endorsement, or guarantee of representation. Participating law firms are independent and decide whether to offer representation after their own review and conflicts process. Before information is provided for outreach, the specific firm should be identified and you will be asked for separate authorization. You are free to decline and to seek any lawyer you choose.

Dead Ringer may enter commercial arrangements with participating firms where permitted by law. Any such arrangement does not increase the legal fee you agree to pay unless your separate agreement with the firm expressly says otherwise. The lawyer remains responsible for professional judgment and compliance with applicable ethics and advertising rules.

Communications consent

Submitting a free case check, creating an account, or saving evidence does not by itself authorize telemarketing calls or texts from law firms. If communications consent is requested, it will identify the specific firm, explain the permitted contact methods, and require an unchecked affirmative selection. Consent to marketing communications is not a condition of using Dead Ringer’s free tools.

Evidence and transcripts

Evidence organization, text extraction, transcription, integrity hashes, and timestamps can help create a reviewable record, but they do not establish authenticity, chain of custody, admissibility, or a legal violation. Keep your original screenshots, messages, voicemails, device records, and other source files. Generated text should be checked against the original.

Call recording laws

Federal and state laws differ on whether one or all participants must consent to a call recording. Dead Ringer’s Live Call Trap is a note-taking aid and does not tell users to record calls. You are responsible for complying with the law that applies to every participant and location.

Educational resources

Resource articles provide general information as of their stated update date. Laws, agency rules, and court interpretations can change. Resources may not address your state, facts, exemptions, or defenses and should not replace advice from a licensed attorney.

No government affiliation

Dead Ringer is not affiliated with or endorsed by the Federal Communications Commission, Federal Trade Commission, National Do Not Call Registry, any court, or any other government agency. Links to government sources are provided for convenience and primary-source reference.
