Terms of Use
These Terms govern your access to Dead Ringer. Please read them carefully before creating an account, submitting evidence, or using our call tools.
Effective July 21, 2026 · Last updated July 21, 2026The important part first
Dead Ringer is a technology platform—not a law firm. It does not provide legal advice, create an attorney-client relationship, guarantee attorney representation, or promise compensation or any other outcome. Deadlines may apply to legal claims. Do not rely on the Services to preserve a deadline or replace advice from a licensed attorney.
1. Agreement to these Terms
By accessing or using the Services, you agree to these Terms and acknowledge the Privacy Policy and Legal Disclosures. If you do not agree, do not use the Services. You must be at least 18 years old and legally capable of entering an agreement to create an account or submit a case check.
2. What Dead Ringer provides
Dead Ringer offers consumer education, guided intake, evidence organization, preliminary case screening, campaign-pattern analysis, secure file tools, and potential introductions to independently operated law firms. Features and availability may change over time.
Scores, value ranges, routing tiers, pattern matches, summaries, extracted text, and transcripts are automated screening outputs. They may be incomplete or inaccurate and are not legal opinions, claim valuations, or predictions of success.
3. No legal representation
Your use of Dead Ringer does not create an attorney-client relationship with Dead Ringer or any law firm. A relationship with a law firm exists only if you and that firm separately agree to representation. Information submitted before that agreement may not be protected by attorney-client privilege. Do not submit information about an emergency or rely on Dead Ringer for urgent legal help.
4. Accounts
You agree to provide accurate information, keep your credentials confidential, and promptly notify us of suspected unauthorized access. You are responsible for activity conducted through your account. You may not share an account, impersonate another person, create accounts through automated means, or attempt to bypass authentication or security controls.
5. Your submissions and evidence
You retain ownership of information and files you submit. You grant Dead Ringer a nonexclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, copy, process, secure, analyze, organize, and transmit your submissions only as reasonably necessary to operate, improve, protect, and provide the Services, carry out your instructions, identify campaign patterns, and comply with law.
You represent that you have the right to submit the information and that doing so does not violate law, another person’s privacy, confidentiality duties, court orders, or intellectual-property rights. Preserve original evidence. Dead Ringer is not your only backup or evidence custodian, and upload completion does not guarantee that a file will be admissible in court.
6. Recording and call-conduct laws
Recording, monitoring, or sharing a telephone conversation may require consent from one or all participants, depending on applicable federal and state law. The Live Call Trap provides a note-taking script; it does not instruct you to record a call. You are solely responsible for learning and following the laws that apply to your location and the other participants. Do not misrepresent your identity, threaten anyone, interfere with emergency services, or engage in unlawful conduct.
7. Attorney matching and communications consent
A case check does not guarantee a match or representation. If a firm may be appropriate, Dead Ringer will identify that specific firm before requesting permission for the firm to receive your information or contact you. Any permission to receive marketing calls or texts must be separately and affirmatively given; it is not a condition of using the free case check. Standard carrier message and data rates may apply to communications you request.
Law firms are independent from Dead Ringer and are responsible for their own professional judgment, conflicts checks, communications, privacy practices, and representation decisions.
8. Acceptable use
You may not use the Services to:
- submit false, fabricated, altered, stolen, or unlawfully obtained evidence;
- harass, threaten, defame, stalk, or unlawfully monitor another person;
- upload malware or attempt to probe, disrupt, overload, reverse engineer, or gain unauthorized access to the Services;
- scrape, copy, resell, or commercially exploit the Services or campaign intelligence without written permission;
- interfere with another user or use the Services for spam, fraud, or unlawful solicitation; or
- violate any applicable law, regulation, court order, or third-party right.
9. Our content and intellectual property
The Services, branding, interface, source material, scoring framework, compilations, and platform content are owned by Dead Ringer or its licensors and protected by applicable law. Subject to these Terms, Dead Ringer grants you a limited, revocable, nontransferable right to use the Services for your personal, noncommercial use. Government statutes, regulations, decisions, and other public-domain materials remain subject to their own legal status.
10. Third-party services and links
The Services may rely on or link to third-party providers, government websites, law firms, and other resources. Dead Ringer does not control and is not responsible for their availability, content, security, advice, or practices. A link does not imply endorsement.
11. Suspension and termination
You may stop using the Services at any time and may request account deletion subject to our Privacy Policy. We may restrict or terminate access when reasonably necessary to protect users or the Services, investigate misuse, comply with law, or enforce these Terms. Sections that by their nature should survive termination—including ownership, disclaimers, liability limits, and dispute provisions—will survive.
12. Disclaimers
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, THE SERVICES ARE PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE.” DEAD RINGER DISCLAIMS ALL EXPRESS OR IMPLIED WARRANTIES, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE, NON-INFRINGEMENT, ACCURACY, AVAILABILITY, SECURITY, AND THAT THE SERVICES WILL PRODUCE A PARTICULAR LEGAL OR FINANCIAL RESULT. NOTHING IN THESE TERMS EXCLUDES A WARRANTY THAT CANNOT LAWFULLY BE EXCLUDED.
13. Limitation of liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, DEAD RINGER AND ITS OFFICERS, EMPLOYEES, CONTRACTORS, AND AFFILIATES WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES; LOST PROFITS OR DATA; MISSED DEADLINES; EVIDENCE LOSS; OR DECISIONS MADE IN RELIANCE ON THE SERVICES. DEAD RINGER’S TOTAL LIABILITY ARISING FROM THE SERVICES WILL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF $100 OR THE AMOUNT YOU PAID DEAD RINGER DURING THE 12 MONTHS BEFORE THE EVENT GIVING RISE TO THE CLAIM. SOME JURISDICTIONS DO NOT ALLOW CERTAIN LIMITATIONS, SO THESE LIMITS APPLY ONLY TO THE EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW.
14. Indemnification
To the extent permitted by law, you agree to defend, indemnify, and hold Dead Ringer harmless from third-party claims arising from your unlawful misuse of the Services, violation of these Terms, or infringement of another person’s rights. This obligation does not apply to the extent a claim results from Dead Ringer’s own unlawful conduct.
15. Disputes and applicable law
Before filing a claim concerning the Services, you agree to send a written description to legal@getdeadringer.com and allow 30 days for an informal resolution, unless a deadline or request for urgent relief makes that impractical. These Terms are governed by applicable United States federal law and the law that otherwise applies under governing conflict-of-law principles. Nothing here prevents either party from seeking appropriate relief in a court with lawful jurisdiction.
16. Changes to the Services or Terms
We may modify the Services and these Terms. We will post revised Terms with a new effective date and provide additional notice when required. Material changes apply prospectively. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance where permitted by law.
17. General terms
If a provision is unenforceable, it will be limited to the minimum extent necessary and the remaining provisions will remain effective. Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver. You may not assign these Terms without our consent; Dead Ringer may assign them as part of a merger, financing, reorganization, or sale. These Terms, the Privacy Policy, and incorporated disclosures form the entire agreement about the Services.
18. Contact
