Privacy Policy
This policy explains what information Dead Ringer collects, why we collect it, how it may be shared, and the choices available to you.
Effective July 21, 2026 · Last updated July 21, 2026Notice at collection
When you use a case check or the Live Call Trap, we may collect identifiers, account and contact information, call or text details, uploaded evidence, caller or company clues, device and network information, consent records, and conclusions generated from your answers. We use this information to provide and secure the service, organize evidence, assess a report, identify repeat campaign patterns, and—only with the consent described below—facilitate review by a specific law firm.
We do not sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. We retain information only as described in the “Data retention” section below.
1. Scope
This Privacy Policy applies to getdeadringer.com, Dead Ringer accounts, case checks, evidence uploads, the Live Call Trap, and related services that link to this policy (collectively, the “Services”). It does not govern a law firm’s independent handling of information after you expressly authorize a transfer. That firm’s privacy notice and professional obligations will apply to its use of the information.
2. Information we collect
Information you provide
- Account information: email address, authentication records, and account identifier.
- Case-check information: your phone number, call or text counts, dates, opt-out history, Do Not Call Registry status, caller identity clues, and answers about the contact.
- Evidence: screenshots, call logs, text threads, voicemail or audio files, file metadata, and text extracted or transcribed from submitted files.
- Live-call notes: company names, websites, representative names, agent identifiers, extensions, and timestamps that you save.
- Consent and communications: the consent text shown to you, your selection, related timestamps, and messages you send to us.
Information collected automatically
We may collect IP address, user-agent, browser and device characteristics, referring page, request timestamps, security events, session information, and service logs. We use this information to operate the Services, prevent abuse, troubleshoot errors, and create submission receipts.
Information derived from submitted data
Our automated scoring and data-processing framework may generate a viability score, preliminary value range, routing tier, evidence status, integrity hash, or potential connections between reports. These outputs are screening tools, not legal conclusions.
3. How we use information
- Provide accounts, case checks, evidence storage, submission receipts, and requested features.
- Organize call and text evidence into a reviewable record.
- Detect related numbers, domains, scripts, brands, and telemarketing campaign patterns.
- Assess whether a report may benefit from additional evidence or attorney review.
- Authenticate users, secure the Services, investigate abuse, and maintain system integrity.
- Respond to support, privacy, and legal requests.
- Comply with law, enforce our terms, and protect users, Dead Ringer, and others.
- Improve the Services using aggregated or de-identified information where reasonably possible.
4. When we disclose information
We may disclose information in the following limited circumstances:
- Service providers: infrastructure, authentication, database, secure-file-storage, hosting, security, and support providers that process information for us under contractual or technical restrictions. Our current infrastructure includes Supabase for account and database services and Cloudflare for hosting and secure evidence storage.
- A specifically identified law firm: only after the firm is identified to you and you provide the requested firm-specific authorization. Creating an account or running a case check does not itself authorize attorney marketing calls or texts.
- Legal and safety reasons: when reasonably necessary to comply with law or legal process, prevent fraud or abuse, enforce agreements, or protect rights and safety.
- Business transaction: in connection with financing, reorganization, acquisition, or sale, subject to appropriate confidentiality protections and applicable law.
- At your direction: when you ask us to export, share, or otherwise use information in a particular way.
We do not sell personal information. We do not share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. We do not send your case information to multiple law firms through a single blanket consent.
5. Evidence, campaign intelligence, and de-identification
Your report may contain clues that help identify repeat telemarketing activity, such as caller numbers, company names, domains, message wording, offer details, and timing patterns. We may compare those clues with other reports to detect campaign connections. When practicable, consumer-identifying details are separated from campaign-level analysis. We do not publicly display your private evidence or contact information.
6. Data retention
We retain account and case information for as long as your account remains active or as reasonably necessary to provide the Services, preserve an evidence trail you requested, identify repeat campaigns, resolve disputes, enforce agreements, and meet legal obligations. Consent-ledger and integrity records may be retained longer because they document what was shown and authorized at submission. Evidence scheduled for deletion may remain briefly in encrypted backups or disaster-recovery systems before being overwritten.
You may request deletion as described below. We may retain information that must be preserved by law, is needed to protect legal rights, has been lawfully de-identified, or forms part of an auditable consent or security record.
7. Security
We use safeguards designed for the nature of the information we process, including access controls, account authentication, encrypted network connections, short-lived evidence-upload links, restricted storage access, and integrity hashing for certain submission records. No online service can guarantee absolute security. Protect your password, use a unique credential, and contact us if you suspect unauthorized account activity.
8. Your choices and privacy rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to request access to, correction of, deletion of, or a copy of personal information; to learn about its collection and disclosure; to limit certain uses; to opt out of a sale or targeted-advertising share; and to appeal a denied request. We will not discriminate against you for exercising an applicable privacy right.
Dead Ringer does not currently sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising, so no opt-out is required for those practices. We honor legally required browser-based opt-out preference signals if our practices change in a way that makes them applicable.
To submit a request, email privacy@getdeadringer.com from the address connected to your account and describe your request. We may verify your identity before acting. An authorized agent may submit a request where permitted by law, but we may require proof of authority and identity verification.
9. Children
The Services are intended for adults and are not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Users must be at least 18 years old to create an account or submit a case check. Contact us if you believe a child provided information to us.
10. Cookies and similar technology
We use session and security technology necessary to keep users signed in, protect accounts, and operate the Services. We do not currently use third-party behavioral advertising cookies. If we introduce nonessential analytics or advertising technology, we will update this policy and provide any choices required by law.
11. United States operation
Dead Ringer is operated in the United States. If you access the Services from another country, your information may be processed in the United States, where privacy laws may differ from those in your location.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the Services or legal requirements change. We will post the revised version with a new “Last updated” date and provide additional notice when required. Material changes apply prospectively unless the law permits otherwise.
13. Contact
Questions or privacy requests may be sent to privacy@getdeadringer.com. For important limitations on the Services, review our Terms of Use and Legal Disclosures.
